Justice Kaye Hearn focuses her practice at Wyche on litigation and appellate advocacy. She retired in April of 2023 as a Justice on the South Carolina Supreme Court. At the time of her retirement, she was the longest serving member of the South Carolina State Court Judiciary. She was elected to the Supreme Court of South Carolina in May of 2009, becoming only the second woman member in the court’s history. Wallace is an experienced trial and appellate attorney, with over 60 jury trials in state and federal courts throughout the Southeast, and approximately 100 bench trials, jury trials, and arbitration trials. Tally is the Chair of Wyche’s Executive Committee and a litigator with two decades of experience. A former F-16 fighter pilot, Tally serves her clients with a special blend of tenacity, shrewdness, and creativity. Obtained a nearly $1 million settlement in a personal injury case in which our client was severely injured by the defective design of water skiing equipment.
Obtained a multimillion-dollar settlement on behalf of a client whose acute pain was ignored and not treated by doctors and nurses at a nursing home, despite the client’s repeated complaints. The failure to diagnose and treat ultimately resulted in paralysis.
Represented the Relators in a qui tam lawsuit filed under the Federal False Claims Act that resulted in the largest healthcare settlement in the history of South Carolina at the time.
Pitts v. Jackson National Life Insurance: We defended this insurance practices class action in state court in South Carolina. After conditional certification of a class, we obtained summary judgment on the merits, which was upheld on appeal.
